Decline in U.S. stocks at the open and eyes on Bernanke

U.S. stocks fell at the open on Thursday as investors awaited a speech Ben Bernanke Federal Reserve Chairman (Fed) on Friday at a forum for central bank governors for any hints of a new economic stimulus measures.

The Dow Jones industrial average was 70.23 points, or 0.54 percent, to 13037 points, and the benchmark S & P 500 East was up 7.71 points, or 0.55 percent to 1402.78 points.

The Nasdaq Composite Index, which IXIC Technology 16.22 points, or 0.53 percent, to 3064.97 points.
